The Allium fistulosum is an unusual-looking allium that is much better known under its common names Spring Onion, Welsh Onion or Bunching Onion. This unique allium has long green stems that reach 70cm with small yellow-white blooms with tiny flowers. Spring Onions should be planted during the spring to early summer, it will then bloom shortly after from July to August.
The Allium fistulosum is best planted around 10cm deep in well-drained, nutrient-rich soil in a sunny area of the garden. The plant can also benefit from shelter on one side to help prevent the tall flower spikes from falling over in the wind.
