The Trillium erectum, also known as a Red Trillium, is an enchanting plant with three large oval-shaped leaves surrounding a single deep red nodding flower. Trilliums are incredibly hardy and such can be planted throughout the year, although they will do best when planted in autumn from August to October. Trillium erectum is a forest-dwelling plant so can be scorched in full sun, they should be planted partial to full shade in well-drained soil.
Trilliums like many perennial plants can take quite a long time to establish, but they are very long-lived once settled in, producing beautiful flowers through April and May for many years to come.
