The Allium cernuum, known as 'Nodding onion' or 'Lady's leek', is an allium that starts off with white flowers that slowly turn purple and droop as the plant comes into flower. The Allium cernuum grows to a maximum of 40cm making it perfect for borders. The allium is best planted late in the year from September to December for lovely blooms through early to mid summer.
The Allium cernuum does best when planted about 10cm deep in well-drained, nutrient-rich soil, it can also benefit from from some shelter on one side to protect it from being blown over.
