Sauromatum venosum bulbs yield a magnificent plant, featuring large, pointed leaves and speckled stems. The plant's striking flower is a tube-like bloom in deep burgundy-brown, with an elongated, showy spadix rising from the speckled inner portion of the plant. These plants also give off a strong, pungent odour.
Sauromatum venosum is a resilient plant that adapts well to different conditions, though it thrives best in a well-drained, moist soil and sunlight or semi-shade exposure. In colder climates, a layer of mulch or bark is recommended for frost protection. It can also thrive when grown in containers.
