Description
The shiny green foliage is filled with spongy tissue for buoyancy. Juvenile plants are formed on the ends of runners. The roots make excellent cover for fry and remove nitrates, helping to prevent algae.
Not hardy. Remove decaying plants after first frost. To overwinter, place in shallow water with a little soil for the roots to grow into. Keep in good light at above 10 °c. Return to the pond late April - May when there is no risk of frost.
