An unusual native plant with long, narrow and serrated leaves. Stratiotes like to have their roots in contact with the soil or mulm on the base of the pond. Most ponds containing Stratiotes seem to have clear water.
Allow to die back naturally. The old plant rots away and the young plants rise to the surface the following spring to bear small white flowers and start the cycle all over again.
Float on the surface of the water in full sun to partial shade.
- Flowering period: June to August
- Mature height: 10cm to 15cm
