The Arisaema speciosum, also known as a Cobra Lily for its snake-like hood, is a beautiful plant with large trifoliate leaves surrounding a dark red-brown spathe. This unusual plant does best in shady areas with plenty of drainage and a healthy amount of leaf mould to encourage growth. Once they are established in your garden they require very little attention aside from needing a bit of protection for very severe frosts.
The Arisaema speciosum does best when planted through spring in March, April and May, it will then produce its iconic hooded flowers throughout the summer months. Once fully grown this plant can reach 40cm.
