The alien-looking Allium 'Hair' is one of the strange alliums available. So-called for its hair-like appendages protruding out from the centre of the flowers. This is a fairly tall allium, reaching a maximum height of 70cm when it blooms in early summer. For best results, the Hair should be planted in late winter from September to December.
The Allium 'Hair' does best when planted about 10cm deep into well-drained, nutrient-rich soil in a sunny area of the garden. The plant can also benefit from some shelter on one side to help protect the tall flower spikes from the wind.
