The Allium flavum, also known by its common name Small Yellow Onion, is a simple-looking allium with small yellow flowers on long stems spouting from the top of the flower spike. The Small Yellow Onion is best planted late in the year from September to December and is expected to bloom early to mid-summer from July to August. When fully grown the flower spike can reach a height of 40cm.
The Allium flavum should be planted around 10cm deep in well-drained, nutrient-rich soil in a sunny area of the garden. The plant can also benefit from shelter on one side to help protect the flower spikes from the wind
