The Wildlife World woodpecker box is handmade in solid FSC-certified cedar, with a silver birch entrance hole for a naturalistic appearance. The box has a hinged inspection lid and comes fitted with a camera clip so you can insert your own camera. The box also comes with a bag of wood shavings as nest material.

The woodpecker box should be positioned high up between 3 – 5 metres on a mature tree in a quiet location for the best chance of occupancy. Face the entrance hole away from the prevailing wind to face between north and south-east.

As with all wooden Wildlife World nest boxes, we use FSC certified slow-seasoned, naturally durable timbers to negate the need for chemical preservatives or stains. The timber will silver with age, and small cracks will appear with wetting and drying, but the wood does not rot. You may use a water-based exterior varnish for aesthetic purposes, but it is not required treatment. All the joints are screwed together for longevity.

The woodpecker box should ideally be cleaned out in autumn, ready for the coming spring. Other species which may use the box with a 55mm hole are starlings.

Pond Plants

Currently dispatching on Tuesdays and Thursdays only.

1. In the main season, orders placed by 11am on a working day are sent the next working day, excluding Friday (or the Thursday before Easter).
2. During low season we will amend the days orders are shipped. The dispatch days are normally:
• March - Twice weekly Tuesday and Thursday
• April to Mid-August - 4 days per week Monday to Thursday
• Mid-August and September - Twice weekly Tuesday and Thursday
• October to February - Once per week on Tuesday
3. Due to the volume of orders being handled, we are unlikely to be able to amend or cancel an order if it has already been picked and packaged. Once in this status, the order will be shipped and invoiced accordingly.
4. Our couriers will leave orders in a cool shaded area if there is no one at the address provided, or with a neighbour if possible.

Other Products

We aim to dispatch orders within 3 working days (Monday to Friday).

Some specialist products such as our larger insect houses, furniture and niche bird boxes are made to order and may have a lead time of 2-6 weeks.
