The Chavenage Bat Box is a quality nesting box made from natural timber, providing a roost for various bat species. It can be installed in gardens, woodlands, or house walls, and is crafted from untreated, durable FSC-certified timber for longevity and insulation. Its narrow entrance at the base deters predators while preserving the scent-sensitive bats.

To ensure the best results, position the box at a high level (between 2.5m and 5m) on a building or mature tree. Use the pre-drilled back plate hanger provided. Additionally, choose a location that receives partial sunlight, ideally facing South West or South East. Placing the box on an existing feeding or flight path increases the chances of occupancy. Bats are protected under the Wildlife & Countryside Act, meaning only licensed bat workers can inspect Bat Boxes. However, without disturbance, you can monitor for signs of occupancy such as mouse-sized droppings below the box or by observing from a distance at dusk.
