Lesser Bulrush (Typha angustifolia)
Also known as 'Reedmace' or 'Narrowleaf Cattail'.
Smaller than Typha latifolia but still a large typha with dark chocolate-coloured seed heads. It is reported that the roots have been used in Asia to combat dysentery. The attractive seed heads are frequently used by florists.
Attractive seed heads may be left all winter if desired but best cleared if they fall into the water. Cut back foliage before spring growth starts.
Plant in full sun between 1cm and 30cm deep.
