The Tulip 'The First' bulbs have an early flowering cycle compared to other Tulips and blooms with wide, open petals that bask in the sunshine. This hardy variety is low-maintenance and perennial, guaranteeing years of colourful gardens. These vibrant blooms are pure white and have a carmine red, flushed yellow base on the reverse. Furthermore, the plant stands at a mere 20cm, making it ideal for container gardens, rockeries and borders.
The First flower is a Division 12 tulip, which is a multi-flowered tulip sometimes called waterlily tulips. They are bowl-shaped and appear in the beginning or middle of spring.
The First Tulip flowers in March and will grow well in a wide variety of conditions, but will prefer fertile, well drained soil in a sunny or partially shaded area.
