The Tulip 'National Velvet' bulbs produce striking deep velvet red blooms with a blackish hue. These tulips are sturdy and weather resistant, making them excellent for garden displays.
The National Velvet flower is a Division 3 triumph tulip, characterised by single, cup-shaped blooms that appear in mid to late spring. A hybrid division, with the widest range of colours but tend to be short lived.
This tulip flowers in April/May and will grow well in a wide variety of conditions, but will prefer fertile, well drained soil in a sunny or partially shaded location.
