The bulbs of Sauromatum giganteum result in a stunning plant, boasting broad, arrow-shaped leaves and distinctive flowers. These blooms feature a tubular shape and deep maroon colouring, with a spadix emerging from the center. These flowers will produce a strong odour upon blooming, lasting for one day but quickly dissipating.

Sauromatum giganteum is a sturdy plant that can thrive in various environments, although it prefers a well-drained, moist soil with exposure to sunlight or semi-shade. In colder winters, it is recommended to provide a layer of mulch or bark for frost protection. It can also be successfully grown in containers.
