The Pleione grandiflora x formosanum is a striking plant with dark green leaves and an unusual white and lilac flower with 5 petals with a heavily fringed central petal featuring blotches of red and white. The bulbs must be planted in a mixture of peat, loam, perlite and sphagnum moss immediately on arrival.
Pleiones, also known as 'Window Sill Orchids' are relatively hardy and have no issues surviving the average British winter. They can be planted anytime they are dormant, but it is normally best to avoid frosts so should be planted either in autumn or mid to late spring. The beautiful plant blooms in early spring with each bulb producing 2 or 3 flowers.
