Narcissus 'Hunter Morn' Bulbs

Narcissus 'Hunter Morn' is an elegant multi-headed daffodil producing clusters of creamy white flowers with a fresh, luminous quality.

Bred in New Zealand by John Hunter, this compact variety reaches around 25–30cm tall and produces several flowers from each stem, creating a generous display from relatively few bulbs.

  • Height: 25–30cm
  • Spread: 10–15cm
  • Flower colour: creamy white
  • Flowering time: February to March
  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: moderately fertile, well-drained soil

About Narcissus 'Hunter Morn'

Narcissus 'Hunter Morn' is particularly attractive for its multi-headed flowering habit, with several blooms carried together at the top of each sturdy stem.

The flowers open in cool creamy-white shades, sometimes displaying a subtle greenish-white tone that gives them a fresh appearance.

Each flower has broad white outer petals surrounding a short, softly ruffled cup. The restrained colouring makes this an excellent variety for white gardens and more natural-looking spring planting schemes.

Its compact growth also means that the flowers remain nicely proportioned to the foliage and work particularly well towards the front of borders and in containers.

'Hunter Morn' was bred in New Zealand by daffodil breeder John Hunter and makes an interesting addition for gardeners who enjoy growing less commonly encountered Narcissus varieties.

Benefits for UK Wildlife

Early-flowering Narcissus can contribute to a varied wildlife-friendly spring garden.

  • Flowers may be visited by early pollinating insects
  • Provides early-season flowers when fewer plants are in bloom
  • Combines well with other wildlife-friendly spring bulbs

Plant alongside crocuses, muscari and early primroses to create a longer succession of spring flowers.

Where to Grow Narcissus 'Hunter Morn'

  • Fronts of spring borders
  • Patio pots and containers
  • White and cream planting schemes
  • Cottage gardens
  • Mixed bulb displays
  • Cut flower gardens

The multi-headed stems are especially useful for containers, where a relatively small number of bulbs can produce an impressive number of flowers.

Planting Tips

  • Plant bulbs in autumn.
  • Choose a sunny or partially shaded position.
  • Plant approximately 10–12cm deep.
  • Space bulbs around 10cm apart.
  • Plant in groups for the strongest spring display.

After flowering, remove faded flower heads but allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This enables the bulbs to replenish their energy ready for the following year's display.
