About Narcissus 'Golden Harvest'

Narcissus 'Golden Harvest' is an impressive traditional yellow daffodil and a superb variety for creating a strong splash of colour early in the season.

Each sturdy stem carries a single substantial flower with broad golden-yellow perianth segments surrounding a long central trumpet.

The trumpet is also a rich golden yellow and finishes with an attractively flared and lightly frilled rim.

'Golden Harvest' belongs to the Trumpet group of daffodils. Varieties in this group produce one flower per stem, with the corona or trumpet measuring as long as, or longer than, the surrounding perianth segments.

At around 50cm tall, it has plenty of presence and looks particularly impressive when planted in generous groups or drifts.

Benefits for UK Wildlife

Early-flowering Narcissus can form part of a varied wildlife-friendly spring garden.

  • Flowers may be visited by early bees and other pollinating insects
  • Adds floral diversity during early spring
  • Combines well with other early flowering bulbs

Plant alongside crocuses, muscari and other spring flowers to provide a succession of blooms throughout the early part of the year.

Where to Grow Narcissus 'Golden Harvest'

  • Spring garden borders
  • Naturalised lawns and grassy areas
  • Cottage gardens
  • Under deciduous trees and shrubs
  • Large patio containers
  • Cut flower gardens

The tall stems and strong golden colouring make 'Golden Harvest' particularly effective for mass planting, where it can create an impressive traditional daffodil display.

Planting Tips

  • Plant bulbs in autumn.
  • Choose a sunny or partially shaded position.
  • Plant approximately 10–15cm deep.
  • Space bulbs around 10cm apart.
  • Plant in groups or drifts for the strongest display.

After flowering, remove faded blooms but allow the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This gives the leaves time to replenish the bulbs ready for the following spring.
