This beautiful iris blooms mauve-blue flowers with attractive purple-stained leaves. New foliage is purple with purple to black flower stems. As with all iris, the tubers are harmful if eaten.

After the foliage has died back in Autumn you should cut back to just above the water's surface. If you would like to trim the plant before Spring take care not to damage emerging shoots.
