This clematis, RE Clematis 'The Countess of Wessex' (Evipo073), features long-lasting, delicate petals in a creamy white hue with a soft blush pink bar in the centre. The large flower (up to 17cm in diameter) is accentuated by a prominent central boss of vibrant reddish-purple stamens. With its stunning appearance, this climber is a perfect addition to any planting scheme, providing blooms from late spring to early summer and again from late summer to early autumn. It can be grown in containers, pots, or patio gardens, and is also a beautiful, indulgent choice when entwined with Rosa ‘Dunham Massey’.
Clematis plants can be either deciduous or evergreen shrubs, herbaceous perennials, or climbers that use twining leaf stalks. Many varieties also produce striking flowers, while some feature fluffy seedheads in autumn.
To ensure the happiness of this plant, it is best to plant it in a location where its roots will remain cool and moist, ideally with some shade provided by lower-growing species. This plant prefers full sun and a well-drained soil.
