The Alocasia macrorrhiza is a stunning plant that can be kept both outside in the summer and inside all year round as a stunning house plant. This tropical plant produces giant leaves that provide a jungle feel wherever they are planted.
The macrorrhiza prefers warmer climates so can struggle with the winter weather in the UK so it is best to bring it inside over the coldest months. If this isn't possible, they can do okay if trimmed back to the rhizomatus trunk and stored in a cool dry place. If kept correctly the Alocasia macrorrhiza can produce small and simple (but equally beautiful) flowers with a creamy white spathe and peach-coloured spadix.
