Stapelia stapeliiformis (Candle Plant)
Stapelia stapeliiformis, also called the Candle Plant, gives you upright stems with a clean, architectural look. You get ribbed green growth that stays compact. Place your Candle Plant in bright light. Some direct sun helps keep stems firm. Let the soil dry out fully before you water again. Use a free-draining pot. Water less in winter. Good air flow helps prevent rot.
You can place the Candle Plant outside in the UK during warm summer months. Choose a sunny, dry, sheltered spot. Mature plants may produce star-shaped flowers. These flowers can attract flies. Flies are part of the food chain and support birds and other wildlife. Bring the plant back inside when night temperatures fall near 10°C.
This plant suits you if you want something unusual with low effort. You get slow growth, strong structure, and very simple care.
