Clematis 'Innocent Glance'

Choose Clematis 'Innocent Glance' for soft colour and varied flower forms. This deciduous climber produces large pale pink flowers edged with a deeper pink, giving a clear outline to each bloom.

Double flowers appear on older stems in late spring, followed by single or semi-double blooms on new growth through summer.

  • Height: Up to 2m
  • Spread: 1–1.5m
  • Position: Full sun to part shade
  • Soil: Moist but well-drained soil
  • Flowering period: Late spring to late summer

Key Features

  • Large flowers up to 15cm across
  • Pale pink petals with a darker pink edge
  • Double blooms on old wood and single blooms on new growth
  • Purple-tinted young stems add extra interest
  • Decorative seedheads follow flowering

Wildlife Benefits

  • Open flowers allow access for bees and pollinators
  • Supports insects across a long flowering period
  • Seedheads provide structure and habitat value

Plant it alongside other climbers to extend seasonal interest. Do you have plants that offer both flowers and seedheads?

Planting Tips

  • Plant with roots shaded and top growth in sun or light shade
  • Provide support such as a trellis or obelisk
  • Water regularly while establishing
  • Prune lightly to maintain shape and encourage flowering
  • Mulch to retain moisture and keep roots cool

Place it where the flower detail can be seen up close. The edging is easier to appreciate at short distance.
