The Fritillaria imperialis 'Lutea' is a stunning species of fritillary with beautiful sunshine yellow nodding flowers with a crown of luscious green foliage. This plant blooms from April to May and gets to an impressive 90cm when fully grown. For the best results, these should be planted in autumn from September to November. The Lutea is also a recipient of the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society.
The Fritillaria imperialis 'Lutea' is quite easy to grow and does well in borders and raised beds. The bulbs should be planted in full sun to partial shade around 20cm deep.
