For best results, start by planting Dahlia 'Golden Sceptre' in a warm and sheltered container. When the last frost has passed, it can be moved outdoors or planted directly in the ground. This variety of flower needs plenty of sunlight and well-draining soil, as well as protection from strong winds for its tall stems. During winter, it should be kept in a frost-free area to avoid damage.
