This Clematis viticella 'Royal Velours' cultivar boasts abundant, deep purple blooms from July to September, accompanied by mid-green foliage. Its robust nature makes it an attractive partner for pale, silvery-grey, or variegated plants, and it thrives in full sun or partial shade. This variety is resistant to clematis wilt and can withstand strong winds, making it a great option for training through trees or shrubs.

Clematis plants can be either deciduous or evergreen shrubs, herbaceous perennials, or climbers that use twining leaf stalks. Many varieties also produce striking flowers, while some feature fluffy seedheads in autumn.

To ensure the happiness of this plant, it is best to plant it in a location where its roots will remain cool and moist, ideally with some shade provided by lower-growing species. This plant prefers full sun and a well-drained soil.
