This clematis, known as Clematis viticella 'Purpurea Plena Elegans', is a unique late summer bloomer with stunning double flowers. Its dusky reddish-purple colour and rosette or pom pom shape make it a beautiful addition to any garden. Expect abundant blooming from July to September, and consider using the flowers as cuttings for arrangements.
Clematis plants can be either deciduous or evergreen shrubs, herbaceous perennials, or climbers that use twining leaf stalks. Many varieties also produce striking flowers, while some feature fluffy seedheads in autumn.
To ensure the happiness of this plant, it is best to plant it in a location where its roots will remain cool and moist, ideally with some shade provided by lower-growing species. This plant prefers full sun and a well-drained soil.
