'Clematis viticella 'Astra Nova' is a standout with its showy appearance, despite its moderate growth. Its flowers, while on the smaller side at approximately 7cm in size, display a stunning combination of colours. Each petal is a vibrant violet purple with a crisp white stripe running through the center, providing a bold contrast. The centre is adorned with a blend of purple and white stamens, further enhancing its distinctive appearance.

Clematis plants can be either deciduous or evergreen shrubs, herbaceous perennials, or climbers that use twining leaf stalks. Many varieties also produce striking flowers, while some feature fluffy seedheads in autumn.

To ensure the happiness of this plant, it is best to plant it in a location where its roots will remain cool and moist, ideally with some shade provided by lower-growing species. This plant prefers full sun and a well-drained soil.

Height: This plant is usually between 75-90cm tall when it arrives, but can reach 8ft tall. 3L deep rose pots with 90cm cane.

Flowers: June-September.
