Clematis 'The First Lady' features stunning bluey-mauve star-shaped flowers with a subtle hint of deep rose-pink at first bloom. The edges of the petals are delicately wavy and almost frilly, while the centre is adorned with a regal crown of deep raspberry-red stamens, adding to its elegant appeal.

Clematis plants can be either deciduous or evergreen shrubs, herbaceous perennials, or climbers that use twining leaf stalks. Many varieties also produce striking flowers, while some feature fluffy seedheads in autumn.

To ensure the happiness of this plant, it is best to plant it in a location where its roots will remain cool and moist, ideally with some shade provided by lower-growing species. This plant prefers full sun and a well-drained soil.
