This compact clematis is suitable for container gardening, but can also gracefully adorn the front of a mixed border. Its blooms, with a distinctive yellow centre, bloom continuously from midsummer until late autumn, starting off with violet-blue petals. As the temperature rises, the color deepens into a rich purple before eventually taking on a bluish tinge.
Clematis plants can be either deciduous or evergreen shrubs, herbaceous perennials, or climbers that use twining leaf stalks. Many varieties also produce striking flowers, while some feature fluffy seedheads in autumn.
To ensure the happiness of this plant, it is best to plant it in a location where its roots will remain cool and moist, ideally with some shade provided by lower-growing species. This plant prefers full sun and a well-drained soil.
