This clematis, known as 'Issey' (EVIPO081), blooms twice a year, in late spring to early summer and again in late summer to early autumn. The bright red flowers have a yellow centre and bloom profusely from both old and new wood. The late summer and early autumn blooms may be smaller, but they are abundant and create a stunning display. With its compact growth habit, this clematis is perfect for container gardening on a patio or as a climbing addition to a garden border.
Clematis plants can be either deciduous or evergreen shrubs, herbaceous perennials, or climbers that use twining leaf stalks. Many varieties also produce striking flowers, while some feature fluffy seedheads in autumn.
To ensure the happiness of this plant, it is best to plant it in a location where its roots will remain cool and moist, ideally with some shade provided by lower-growing species. This plant prefers full sun and a well-drained soil.
