Agralan Thrips Control - Predatory Amblyseius Mites

Thrips are tiny, slender insects that can cause significant damage to a wide range of plants. Often hiding in buds and growing points, they can be difficult to spot until symptoms appear. Feeding damage shows as silvery speckling, distorted leaves and deformed flowers, which can affect both plant health and appearance. Thrips can quickly spread, making early control essential.

How to Control Thrips

Predatory Amblyseius mites provide an effective, natural solution. These beneficial mites feed on thrips larvae, helping to break the pest lifecycle and reduce populations over time. Supplied in convenient breeder sachets, the mites reproduce within the sachet and are released gradually over several weeks, providing continuous protection. As well as controlling thrips, they can also help reduce other mite pests, including red spider mite, making them a versatile addition to your biological control programme.

How to Use Predatory Mites

Simply hang the breeder sachets directly onto plants, positioning them close to areas of pest activity. The mites will emerge steadily over a period of up to 6 weeks, offering ongoing control. For best results, use when temperatures are between 15–25°C and introduce early, as soon as thrips are detected. Ensure plants are well spaced and avoid the use of chemical sprays that may harm the mites. Regular use can help maintain control and prevent infestations from building up.
