This white cultivar of Japanese Wisteria, Wisteria floribunda 'Alba', is highly esteemed and has been carefully bred for centuries. It is often referred to as Wisteria florbunda f. alba 'Shiro-noda'. In late May through June, this exquisite variety produces bountiful, fragrant racemes (flowers) measuring around 60 cm in length, with a noticeable yellow center. The foliage starts out pale green but darkens as it matures. While slightly less vigorous than other wisteria varieties, Wisteria floribunda 'Alba' has still been awarded the prestigious AGM by the RHS.
