Tulipa 'Raspberry' Bulbs

Tulipa 'Raspberry' is an attractive mid-season tulip, bringing rich colour to the garden from late April into May. Growing to approximately 45–65cm tall, it produces elegant flowers on sturdy stems, making it an excellent choice for spring borders, formal bedding schemes and containers. The strong stems also make 'Raspberry' particularly useful as a cut flower.

As a mid-season tulip, 'Raspberry' helps bridge the gap between early-flowering varieties and the later tulips of May. This makes it a useful addition to mixed plantings where a long and continuous succession of spring colour is wanted.

  • Flowering time: late April to May
  • Height: approximately 45–65cm
  • Season: mid-season
  • Position: full sun
  • Soil: fertile, well-drained soil
  • Planting time: autumn
  • Suitable for: borders, bedding, containers and cut flowers

About Tulipa 'Raspberry'

'Raspberry' combines the elegant appearance of a classic tulip with a strong, practical garden habit. Its upright stems hold the flowers well above the foliage, creating a colourful display that works particularly effectively when the bulbs are planted together in generous groups.

Its sturdy growth also provides useful resistance to typical spring weather. While a sheltered position is beneficial for any tall tulip, 'Raspberry' is a good choice for exposed garden displays where weaker-stemmed varieties may struggle with wind and rain.

Growing Tulipa 'Raspberry' in the UK

Plant 'Raspberry' bulbs during autumn, ideally between September and November. Choose a position in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil. Good drainage is particularly important for tulips, as bulbs can rot if they remain in cold, waterlogged ground for prolonged periods.
