Tulip 'Black Hero' bulbs deliver stunning flowers with deep maroon and purple hues, appearing near-black in some lights. Its decorative, double-petalled blooms possess a ruffled, petticoat-like look that distinguishes it from its single-petalled counterpart, 'Queen of Night'. This flower grows well in a large variety of conditions, but prefers a moist, well drained soil with plenty of sunlight for optimal growth.

Group 11 tulips are easily distinguished by their doubled petals and longer flowering season compared to other tulip varieties. The 'Black Hero' is an example of this group.
