Neoregelia 'Fireball' Variegated
Neoregelia ‘Fireball’ Variegated is a compact, evergreen bromeliad grown for its vivid and patterned foliage. The leaves form a rosette arranged in a circular design, creating a natural reservoir or “tank” at the centre. Each leaf displays bands and streaks of green, cream, and pink, intensifying to rich red tones when exposed to bright light. The foliage is thick, leathery, and glossy, giving the plant a sculptural quality. Mature specimens remain low to the ground, producing offsets that cluster attractively around the parent plant. When in bright conditions, the centre of the rosette glows with brilliant colour, enhancing its ornamental appeal.
Growing Conditions
Neoregelia ‘Fireball’ Variegated thrives in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can fade or scorch the leaves, while too little light reduces colour intensity. It prefers warm indoor temperatures between eighteen and twenty-eight degrees Celsius and will not tolerate frost. Fill the central tank with fresh water, changing it every week to prevent stagnation. The roots mainly serve for support rather than feeding, so keep the compost slightly moist but never saturated. Use a free-draining mix containing bark or perlite to ensure good aeration. Humid environments, such as kitchens or bathrooms, suit this bromeliad particularly well.
Care and Maintenance
This species is easy to care for and suitable for both new and experienced plant owners. Mist the leaves regularly to maintain humidity and wipe them gently to remove dust. Feed monthly during spring and summer with a diluted liquid fertiliser applied to the rosette rather than the soil. Remove old leaves and offsets as needed to keep the plant tidy and encourage new growth.
Environmental Benefits
Neoregelia ‘Fireball’ Variegated brings vivid colour and tropical texture to interiors while improving air freshness. Its compact shape, glossy foliage, and bold hues make it an ideal choice for modern decorative plant displays.
