ProRep Flatpack Terrarium 914x457x320mm

Make the smallest details part of a wider landscape with the ProRep Flatpack Terrarium 91.4x45.7x32cm. Its long front and low profile suit a planted scene that unfolds from one end to the other: patches of textured foliage, low moss-covered features and open ground between them. This is a format for growing sideways rather than building a tall jungle.

A panoramic view of the forest floor

A suggested design is a sequence of low planting groups connected by one gently angled piece of wood. Keep the main features below the upper sightline so the whole landscape remains visible. Small changes in leaf colour and texture can then provide interest across the enclosure without relying on large plants.

The broad base offers scope for repetition. Use the same compact foliage plant at several points, or repeat a stone texture to link separate areas. Leaving a clear-looking route between groups can suggest distance, while also preserving practical access to the growing medium and the rear of the display.

Keep plant choices genuinely low-growing

Compact forms of Fittonia albivenis are possible foreground plants where warmth and sufficient humidity can be maintained. Small Peperomia caperata can add contrasting leaves in suitable root conditions. Choose nursery-grown moss for the conditions of the enclosure, using it selectively rather than automatically covering the whole base.

The 32cm overall height needs to accommodate the enclosure, growing layers and foliage. A plant that looks short in its pot may become too tall once placed on a raised feature. Check mature dimensions, favour restrained growth and avoid building deep planting mounds that leave little clearance above the leaves.

Access along a wide planted display

This glass terrarium comes flatpacked for assembly before use. Front access is useful when tending planting spread across a broad base. Mesh ventilation provides air exchange, a terrarium lock is included and the waterproof base offers a practical surface for cleaning and maintenance.

The ventilated design is not equivalent to a sealed moss jar. Humidity and moisture loss depend on the room and the care routine. Check more than one area of the landscape, since a shaded patch behind wood may stay damp while an exposed section dries more quickly.

Plan the whole width, including maintenance

Choose a stable, level support that accommodates the stated dimensions and the finished setup. Assemble according to the supplied instructions before adding planting materials. Keep substrate clear of openings, position decorative pieces securely and leave working space in front of the enclosure.

Lighting should cover the planted width rather than concentrating on one central feature. Select suitable indirect daylight or an appropriately installed plant light, keeping leaves within the fitting's recommended clearances. Strong direct sunshine can overheat a glass display and is not a substitute for planned plant lighting.

Water carefully, remove excess from the base and trim spreading growth before it hides slower neighbours. Choose plants, décor, substrate and equipment separately. This landscape can be enjoyed without animal inhabitants; any livestock use must be assessed independently for the species concerned.

Dimensions: 91.4cm wide x 45.7cm deep x 32cm high (914x457x320mm).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this ProRep terrarium exactly 90cm wide?

The stated width is 914mm, which is 91.4cm. Its depth is 457mm, or 45.7cm, and its height is 320mm, or 32cm. Use these listed dimensions when planning the support and leave extra clearance for access and equipment.

What plants suit a wide, low terrarium?

Compact foliage, carefully selected terrarium moss and low-growing plants with compatible care needs suit this format. Small fittonias and appropriate peperomias are possible choices. Plan for mature growth and remember that substrate and decorative layers reduce the available leaf height.

How can I make a long planted terrarium look natural?

Try connected planting groups rather than one uniform carpet. Repeating a leaf colour, stone texture or low piece of wood can tie the scene together. Keep open areas between features so the landscape remains visible and maintenance does not require disturbing every plant.

Will one small lamp light a 91.4cm-wide terrarium?

Not necessarily. The ends may receive much less useful light than the centre. Choose lighting with coverage suited to the planted area and position it according to its instructions. Check actual plant positions, especially under wood or denser foliage, rather than judging only the brightest spot.

Can I move the terrarium while the planted layout is inside?

Do not assume a flatpack enclosure can be safely moved fully loaded. Follow the manufacturer’s handling guidance and remove heavy decorative materials, plants and loose contents as necessary before moving it. Recheck the support, panels and doors before rebuilding the display.
