Explore the detail of low-growing plants with the ProRep Flatpack Terrarium 60x45x32cm. This broad, shallow glass enclosure lends itself to a forest-floor-inspired garden, where patterned leaves, moss and carefully placed wood provide interest close to the ground. Its proportions encourage a landscape that spreads across the base instead of relying on tall stems or climbing plants.
A broad stage for small plants
Use the 60cm width to arrange connected planting groups, with a low piece of wood leading between them. A small open area can suggest a clearing and make the planted sections stand out. Keeping the features low preserves a view across the display and makes fine leaf textures easier to appreciate.
The 32cm height makes careful space planning important. Growing medium, pots and decorative layers all reduce the room available above the roots. Avoid deep mounds beneath upright plants, and choose a few genuinely compact specimens rather than young examples of species that will soon outgrow the enclosure.
Build interest through colour and texture
Small forms of Fittonia albivenis could create patches of pink, white or red-veined foliage. A compact Peperomia caperata adds ridged leaves, provided its root zone is managed appropriately. Repeating one plant in separate groups can make the display feel connected without introducing too many different care requirements.
Suitable nursery-grown terrarium moss can soften a stone or an exposed patch of growing surface. Select moss for the temperatures, light and moisture you can maintain, rather than assuming any garden moss will thrive indoors. Leave gaps around small plants so that spreading growth does not hide their crowns or overwhelm them.
Front access to the planted floor
The enclosure is supplied flatpacked and needs assembling before planting. Front access helps with arranging low foliage, reaching the substrate and removing debris. Mesh ventilation allows air exchange, a terrarium lock is included and the waterproof base is a practical feature for cleaning and maintenance.
Airflow also means moisture can escape, so the glass sides do not turn this into a self-watering bottle garden. Check the growing medium and humidity regularly, especially when indoor heating is in use. Keep foliage and decorative materials away from ventilation openings and moving door parts.
Keep the setup shallow and serviceable
Assemble on a firm, level support following the supplied instructions. Consider planting into accessible, shallow containers hidden within the arrangement where that suits the roots. This can make it easier to lift out an overgrown plant without disturbing the neighbouring moss or the whole decorative layout.
Choose suitable indirect light or a separately installed plant light, and keep the terrarium out of strong direct sunshine. With a low enclosure, check the recommended distance between foliage and any lighting. A broad arrangement needs useful light across the planted area, not simply a bright spot in the middle.
Water in controlled amounts and remove excess water instead of relying on gravel to dispose of it. Plan plants, substrate, décor and equipment separately. A plant-only landscape needs no reptile or amphibian inhabitants; any animal use requires its own species-specific suitability check.
