ProRep Mini Terrarium 310x210x150mm

Create a small landscape that stretches across the view with the ProRep Mini Terrarium 31x21x15cm. This low rectangular enclosure is an appealing starting point for moss, small stones and delicate ground-level detail. Its wider front gives you room to suggest a miniature clearing or winding path, while the shallow overall height keeps the focus on texture rather than tall foliage.

A landscape in a low frame

The 31cm width allows a composition to lead from one side to the other. Try a low piece of wood near one end, a small moss patch at the other and an open area between them. An uneven outline can look more natural than arranging every feature in a straight row along the back.

The 21cm depth gives room for a little front-to-back variation, but restraint remains important. At 15cm high overall, this terrarium has limited space above the growing surface. Plan roots and substrate first, then choose decoration and plants that leave the lid clear. A heavy mound of compost can use up the height before the planting begins.

Focus on living moss and fine detail

Nursery-grown moss suitable for terrarium culture is a useful starting point. Choose for the room temperature, light and moisture conditions you can maintain, as mosses are not all interchangeable. A couple of compatible textures can provide enough variety without turning the scene into a collection of competing features.

Very small creeping foliage may also work if it has suitable roots and can be kept low. Check the eventual growth and be realistic about trimming. This is not a good shape for accommodating a standard houseplant simply because it arrives in a small pot. Low-growing planting makes the limited headroom an intentional part of the design.

A sliding lid for hands-on care

Tempered glass lets you inspect the finished scene from the front and sides. The sliding mesh lid provides access from above for careful planting and removal of debris. Raised feet create a gap between the base and its supporting surface. Keep every foot supported on a stable, level area.

The mesh top makes this a ventilated enclosure, rather than a sealed moss jar. Moisture can leave the display, especially in dry indoor air. Regular checks are therefore part of growing healthy moss here; neither the lid nor the raised base automatically maintains the correct humidity.

Leave room for maintenance as well as plants

Use an appropriate growing surface and water cautiously. A shallow setup does not need thick decorative layers simply to resemble a larger terrarium. Avoid repeatedly adding water without checking the existing moisture, and make sure any unwanted pooling can be reached and removed without taking the whole landscape apart.

Provide light suited to the plants, keeping the enclosure away from strong direct sunshine and heat sources. A separate plant light may be needed where daylight is limited. Before choosing a display position, check that the lid can slide and that you can reach the planting comfortably.

Select planting materials and equipment separately. This model offers an engaging plant-only project. Any proposed animal use should be assessed independently, with particular attention to the limited height and the species' adult care requirements.

Dimensions: 31cm wide x 21cm deep x 15cm high (310x210x150mm).

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I plant in a 31x21x15cm terrarium?

Very low-growing moss and carefully selected miniature creeping foliage are the most useful starting points. The 15cm overall height leaves limited headroom once growing medium and roots are included. Choose a low landscape rather than trying to fit upright houseplants into it.

Is this model larger than the 20x20x15cm terrarium?

It has a larger listed footprint: 31x21cm compared with 20x20cm. Both are 15cm high overall. The rectangular model provides more horizontal space for moss patches and small landscape features, but does not give additional height for taller plants.

Can I use moss from my garden in this terrarium?

It may not suit warm indoor conditions and can introduce unwanted organisms. Nursery-grown moss intended for terrarium use is a more predictable starting point. In either case, identify its growing needs and inspect it carefully before adding it to a planted display.

Is this a closed moss terrarium?

No. The mesh lid allows air exchange and moisture loss, unlike a jar with an airtight lid. Moss can still be grown when its needs are met, but you will need to monitor its condition and moisture rather than expect a sealed, self-sustaining water cycle.

How should I water a shallow moss terrarium?

Add small amounts in response to the moss and growing surface, not to a fixed daily schedule. Check for water collecting underneath before adding more. Misting may suit some mosses, but water needs vary, and repeated spraying can still saturate the base.
