ProRep Mini Terrarium 200x200x200mm

Create a small focal point for your indoor plant collection with the ProRep Mini Terrarium 20x20x20cm. Its cube proportions offer space for a carefully chosen foliage plant and a simple surrounding landscape, while keeping the overall display compact. Think colourful leaf veins, a little moss and one understated piece of natural décor rather than a miniature version of an overcrowded greenhouse.

A balanced shape for a first planted display

The 20cm square footprint makes it straightforward to compose a scene viewed from the front or a corner. Place the main plant slightly off centre and keep a lower area beside it. This gives the eye a clear point of interest and leaves somewhere to reach when removing a fallen leaf or checking the growing medium.

Compared with the 15cm-high model, this cube provides extra overall height without needing more surface space. However, roots, substrate and the frame still reduce the room available for foliage. Build around the plant's likely growth rather than filling every part of the enclosure on planting day.

Let leaf colour provide the detail

A compact form of Fittonia albivenis, commonly called a nerve plant, could be the centrepiece. Its patterned veins provide colour without relying on flowers. Choose a genuinely small cultivar, check its expected dimensions and keep growth within bounds with gentle trimming when needed.

Suitable terrarium moss can soften a small section of the ground around the planting. Leave the plant's crown clear and make sure you can still inspect the compost. Combining plants with similar requirements is more useful than trying to squeeze several unrelated species into the same tiny space. A single healthy focal plant can make a complete-looking display.

Practical glass construction

Tempered glass provides clear views of the leaves and the arrangement around them. The sliding mesh lid gives top access for planting and maintenance, while raised feet hold the base above the supporting surface. Keep room around the lid so that it can open without catching on shelving, lighting or nearby ornaments.

This is a ventilated enclosure, not a sealed bottle garden. Moisture can escape through the mesh, so it should not be expected to sustain its own watering cycle. For humidity-loving foliage, assess the conditions inside the finished setup rather than assuming that a glass enclosure alone provides enough humidity.

Care for the plants, not just the display

Use a clean, airy growing medium chosen for the plants. For a nerve plant, aim for moist compost without leaving the root zone saturated. Water in small amounts and check before adding more. Any lower drainage space is only a place where water can collect; it does not carry that water away.

Give the display bright indirect light and a temperature suitable for its planting. Avoid strong direct sunshine, which can overheat a small enclosure. Where natural light is inadequate, choose a separate grow light and leave safe clearance for access.

Remove dead leaves, check for pests and trim before foliage presses against the mesh. Planting materials and equipment should be selected separately. The cube also has animal-housing applications, but these require a separate species-specific suitability check.

Dimensions: 20cm wide x 20cm deep x 20cm high (200x200x200mm).

Frequently Asked Questions

What plants can I grow in a 20cm cube terrarium?

A compact nerve plant, carefully selected miniature foliage or suitable terrarium moss can work. Check the mature height and spread, allowing for the space occupied by roots and substrate. A plant sold in a tiny pot is not necessarily a miniature variety.

How many plants fit in the ProRep Mini Terrarium 20x20x20cm?

There is no useful fixed plant count because their rootballs and growth habits vary. Start with one small focal plant and, where space allows, a little compatible moss or low groundcover. Leave access and room for growth rather than filling the cube immediately.

Can I grow Fittonia in this mini terrarium?

A compact Fittonia can be a suitable choice when you provide adequate warmth, humidity and indirect light. Keep its growing medium moist but not waterlogged. Because the terrarium has a mesh lid, check the humidity and plant condition instead of assuming that it behaves like a sealed container.

Does the glass terrarium need a grow light?

It depends on the available daylight and the plants you choose. A bright position away from strong direct sun may be sufficient. In a darker room, add a separate grow light designed for plants, installed at the recommended distance and without obstructing access to the lid.

What is the difference between the 20x20x15cm and 20x20x20cm models?

They have the same listed 20x20cm footprint, but the cube is 5cm taller overall. That gives more flexibility for compact foliage above the growing medium. Both remain small enclosures, so plant selection and the finished substrate depth still need careful planning.
