Give a miniature landscape room to unfold with the ProRep Mini Terrarium 50.8x30.5x25.4cm. This wide rectangular model offers space for connected groups of low foliage, moss and natural-looking décor rather than a single central plant. Its panoramic shape suits a forest-floor-inspired display, where the eye can follow a branch, a gap between planting groups or a changing pattern of leaves across the scene.

Design across the width

With a listed width of 508mm, this is the widest of the nine Mini Terrariums in this selection. Use that width to create a relationship between several modest features, rather than filling it with one oversized plant. A low planted bank at one end and a quieter foreground at the other could make the arrangement feel more spacious.

The 30.5cm depth adds room for front-to-back composition, while the 25.4cm overall height encourages a low landscape. Leave space above the substrate for foliage and new growth. A wide enclosure still needs plants chosen for their eventual height, especially where decoration lifts them nearer the lid.

Connect the planting without crowding it

Small Fittonia forms could provide pockets of veined colour, with carefully managed Pilea depressa adding a different leaf texture. Suitable terrarium moss can soften selected edges. Choose compatible plants for the conditions you can provide, and resist using the extra width as a reason to include species with conflicting care needs.

Repeat a leaf colour or texture in separate areas to connect the composition. Keep some visible ground between plants so that the display can develop without immediately becoming a solid mass. That spacing also allows you to see fallen leaves, check roots and water one area without soaking the whole enclosure.

Clear glass and a ventilated top

Tempered glass panels keep the broad view open, while the sliding mesh lid provides top access for planting, pruning and cleaning. Raised feet leave a gap beneath the base. Allow sufficient clearance to operate the lid and reach both ends of the landscape, particularly if you plan to position the terrarium on a shelf.

The mesh top permits air exchange, making this a ventilated terrarium rather than an airtight bottle garden. Humidity will depend on the room and the planted setup. Check conditions across the display instead of assuming that every part remains equally damp.

Plan lighting and watering for the whole scene

Choose any separate grow light for its useful coverage across the planted width, not just its brightness in the centre. Keep taller leaves from shading smaller neighbours and follow the fitting's installation guidance. Avoid strong direct sunshine, which can cause heat build-up inside a glass enclosure.

Use suitable growing medium and controlled watering, checking different areas before adding more water. The layout should allow unwanted pooling to be removed. Treat this as a planted terrarium, not a water-filled aquarium: do not assume a water-holding rating or drainage specification that has not been confirmed.

Select plants, growing materials, décor and equipment separately. Animal use is another possible application, but requires an independent species-specific assessment rather than relying on the appearance of the planted display.
