Exo Terra Pro Terrarium™ Large Low
The Exo Terra Pro Terrarium Large Low offers a panoramic setting for a planted landscape that stays close to the ground. Measuring 90 x 45 x 30cm, it gives low foliage, mossy features and carefully arranged natural materials room to stretch across a broad display. It is an appealing format for growers who prefer a horizontal scene to a tall wall of planting.
Design a landscape with a clear sense of space
Use the length to create a composition with a beginning, middle and end. A low feature towards one side, an open central area and a smaller planting group beyond can suggest a forest clearing in miniature. Avoid spacing every feature at equal intervals unless a deliberately formal arrangement is your aim.
Repeating a few materials helps a long display feel connected. Choose one main type of wood or stone and a limited palette of foliage, then vary the scale of the groups. Leave enough visible ground or open space for the eye to move through the scene rather than meeting an unbroken mass of leaves.
Keep the planting in proportion
Small Fittonia varieties can introduce patterned foliage, while suitable miniature tropical ferns provide softer shapes. Carefully selected moss adds fine detail around the main features. Use plants whose mature size fits the low format, and check that their light and moisture requirements are compatible.
The generous width does not create extra headroom. The terrarium is 30cm high overall, so a thick planting bed or tall pot can quickly reduce the available space above the roots. Keep structures low and use the base area to develop the scene instead of building steep, bulky banks.
Access across a wide planted display
Dual front doors with push latches and integrated locks give access from the front. The removable, lockable stainless steel mesh top provides another option when arranging plants. Three-position adjustable ventilation lets you alter airflow, while rear cable and tubing inlets help keep equipment organised.
The enclosure also incorporates internal tubing channels and misting-nozzle attachment points for an Exo Terra Monsoon system. The misting system is not included. A raised bottom frame forms part of the Pro construction.
Plan lighting, watering and maintenance
Think about light coverage before planting the far ends of the enclosure. A lamp that strongly illuminates the middle may leave the outer groups underlit. Choose suitable lighting for the full planted area and the species, and keep the glass enclosure away from strong direct sunlight.
Preserve access to the rear corners and to any area where excess water can collect. A long display should still be easy to inspect after watering. Keep substrate away from the front ventilation, remove surplus water when necessary and trim growth before it obscures the intended layout.
Position the terrarium on a level, stable support capable of carrying the completed setup, allowing space for door opening and lid removal. The Large Low can also be assessed for suitable animal use, but its low height and the species' adult needs must be considered independently of the attractive planted design.
Dimensions: 90cm wide x 45cm deep x 30cm high.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Large Low suitable for a panoramic moss terrarium?
Yes, its wide, low proportions suit a horizontal moss-led landscape. Choose moss adapted to the conditions you can provide, keep decoration low and manage light and moisture across the whole display.
Does the Large Low have more floor space than the Large Tall?
No. Both have a stated 90 x 45cm footprint. The difference is height: 30cm for the Large Low and 60cm for the Large Tall.
What lighting does a 90cm planted terrarium need?
Use a plant-appropriate lighting arrangement that covers the full planted length. Check the ends and rear corners as well as the centre. Required output depends on the species, planting density and lamp position.
Can I keep larger houseplants in the Large Low because it is wide?
Width does not compensate for limited height. Choose compact species and account for pot or substrate height. Large or upright houseplants are likely to need a taller enclosure or a different growing space.
What should I stand the Large Low terrarium on?
Use a flat, level and stable support rated for the complete setup, including wet substrate and decoration. Check the actual installation dimensions and leave room for opening the doors and removing the lid.
