Narcissus 'Flor D'Luna' Bulbs

Narcissus 'Flor D'Luna' is an eye-catching reverse bicolour daffodil with bright lemon-yellow petals surrounding a contrasting creamy white cup.

Growing to around 30–40cm tall, its unusual colouring provides a fresh twist on the traditional spring daffodil and looks particularly effective planted in groups.

  • Height: 30–40cm
  • Spread: 10–15cm
  • Flower colour: lemon yellow with a creamy white cup
  • Flowering time: spring
  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: fertile, well-drained soil

About Narcissus 'Flor D'Luna'

Narcissus 'Flor D'Luna' is particularly notable for its reverse bicolour flowers.

Unlike the familiar combination of pale outer petals and a yellow or orange centre, 'Flor D'Luna' reverses the effect with rich lemon-yellow perianth segments surrounding a much paler cup.

The creamy white corona has an attractively flared and gently ruffled edge, standing out clearly against the yellow petals.

A subtle paler zone where the petals meet the cup further emphasises the contrast between the two colours.

The flowers are held individually on sturdy upright stems above narrow green foliage. At 30–40cm tall, the plants are easy to incorporate into borders as well as pots and other spring displays.

Benefits for UK Wildlife

Spring-flowering Narcissus can contribute to a varied wildlife-friendly garden.

  • Flowers may be visited by spring-pollinating insects
  • Adds floral diversity to early-season planting
  • Combines well with other spring-flowering bulbs

Plant alongside crocuses, muscari and other early flowers to create a succession of spring colour.

Where to Grow Narcissus 'Flor D'Luna'

  • Spring garden borders
  • Patio pots and containers
  • Cottage gardens
  • Mixed bulb displays
  • Under deciduous trees and shrubs

The unusual reverse bicolour is best appreciated when several bulbs are planted together in a group or informal drift.

Planting Tips

  • Plant bulbs in autumn.
  • Choose a sunny or partially shaded position.
  • Plant approximately 10–15cm deep.
  • Space bulbs around 10cm apart.
  • Water after planting if the soil is particularly dry.

After flowering, remove faded blooms but leave the foliage to yellow and die back naturally. This allows the leaves to replenish the bulbs ready for flowering the following spring.
