This robust clematis is ideally suited for planting near entryways or outdoor seating areas, allowing the heavily fragrant flowers to be fully enjoyed. The blooms are of moderate to small size, but are produced in abundance. The colouration ranges from a deep purple at the base to a reddish-purple at the tips. This variety flourishes from July to October and thrives in full sun exposure.

Clematis plants can be either deciduous or evergreen shrubs, herbaceous perennials, or climbers that use twining leaf stalks. Many varieties also produce striking flowers, while some feature fluffy seedheads in autumn.

To ensure the happiness of this plant, it is best to plant it in a location where its roots will remain cool and moist, ideally with some shade provided by lower-growing species. This plant prefers full sun and a well-drained soil.
