
Description
The Allium atropurpureum also known as the Purple Onion is a beautiful allium with striking deep purple flowers and unusual petals. Once fully grown, the Purple Onion can reach a maximum height of 60cm. The Allium atropurpureum does best when planted from September to October, it then grows through the winter and spring to bloom in June.
The Purple Onion does best when planted around 10cm deep in drained fertile soil in direct sunlight. The plant can also benefit from a sheltered side to help protect the flower spikes from being blown over.
