Rosa 'For Your Eyes Only'

Rosa ‘For Your Eyes Only’ is a repeat-flowering floribunda rose that produces masses of single blooms from early summer into autumn. Voted Rose of the Year 2015, this variety stands out with its unusual blend of pink, peach and apricot shades, each flower marked by a rich, darker eye at the centre.

Bred by renowned rose breeder Chris Warner after more than 30 years of selective breeding, this rose combines striking flowers with excellent disease resistance and a long flowering season. Its open blooms reveal golden stamens that attract pollinating insects, making it a valuable addition to wildlife-friendly gardens.

Where to grow Rosa ‘For Your Eyes Only’

  • Plant in sunny borders and rose beds

  • Works well in wildlife-friendly gardens
  • Can be grown in large patio containers
  • Thrives in fertile, moist but well-drained soil

The soft blend of sunset shades complements many garden colour schemes. Try planting it alongside purple salvias, nepetas or ornamental grasses for contrast.

Benefits for UK wildlife

  • Single flowers provide easy access to pollen and nectar
  • Attracts bees, hoverflies and other pollinating insects
  • Open flower structure offers more wildlife value than many double-flowered roses
  • Supports pollinators throughout its long flowering season

The exposed golden stamens make this rose particularly appealing to bees searching for food during summer.

Planting tips

  • Plant in full sun for the best flowering performance
  • Choose fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil
  • Water well during dry periods while plants establish
  • Deadhead regularly to encourage continuous flowering
  • Apply a rose fertiliser in spring and again after the first flush of flowers

Unlike hybrid tea roses, floribunda roses require less intensive pruning. Focus on maintaining a healthy framework and remove weak, damaged or crossing stems during winter.
