A unique and aesthetically pleasing option for a sunny and protected garden, this shrub from Brazil boasts slender arching stems adorned with sizable fresh green leaves, and bell-shaped flowers in a striking red and yellow colour. Blooming throughout the summer and into the fall, Abutilon megapotamicum is perfect for cultivation against a south-facing wall, or in a large pot that can be brought into a conservatory for overwintering.
Plant in freely-draining, neutral to slightly acidic soil that has been enriched with compost or well-rotted manure. Lightly trim back shoots that spoil the symmetry. In colder regions, move potted plants to a frost-free spot when the temperatures drop.
