Bug hotels provide a valuable sanctuary for a variety of mini beasts and insects, such as ladybirds, bees, spiders, and woodlice. These minibeasts can utilize the bug hotel as a safe space to seek shelter, lay their eggs, raise their young, and find protection from predators.

What makes our insect hotels truly unique is that they are crafted by skilled joiners and individuals with Learning Disabilities. All the design and production take place in Staffordshire. Natural materials are gathered from local forest floors, such as foraged twigs, logs, and pine cones. Additionally, Stoke-on-Trent-fired clay bricks are included to enhance the aesthetics. The only non-forest floor elements we add are bamboo sticks or river reeds, carefully selected to attract solitary bees, beetles, ladybirds, and other garden insects.

Crafted from FSC-certified homegrown Larch, this bug hotel possesses a rustic and robust charm. To ensure longevity, we recommend treating the exterior with water-based Stain or paint, while allowing the interior to age naturally.

This product is manufactured by Wildlife and Birdcare, a community interest company (not for profit) organisation, that teaches woodwork and other craft skills and on-the-job training and work development to young adults with autism and learning disabilities. They design, develop and build high-quality homes for garden guests including bug hotels, bird nesting boxes, hedgehog boxes, owl boxes, bats boxes, squirrel feeders and more. They are a UK-based community interest company comprising a skilled workforce and people with learning disabilities and autism.
