Giant Prickly Rhubarb (Gunnera manicata)
Also known as 'Prickly Rhubarb' or 'Chile Rhubarb'.
This giant plant has the largest leaves of any plant grown in the UK. The leaves are borne on long, stout, prickly stems and can grow to well over a metre in diameter. It has green/red club-shaped flowers that are about 70cm long.
Cover the crown with dying foliage or straw in Autumn to protect it from frost.
Plant in full sun to partial shade in damp or boggy soil that won't dry out.
